2013 Samsung Run Dublin@Night 10K...Sun 28th Apr 2013

10,000 IN THE RUNNING FOR NIGHT OUT!
Dublin City Council announces the 2013 Samsung Run Dublin@Night 10K

Samsung IT & Mobile Ireland and Dublin City Council today announced the return of Samsung Run Dublin@Night 10k. Following on from the successful inaugural 10K Night Run last year, the 2013 event will be bigger and better with expanded capacity as 10,000 runners are expected to take to the streets. The run starts at 9.00pm on Sunday 28th April and runners can register for the event at www.samsungnightrun.com.

The expected route for the race will start at College Green, Dame Street and will conclude in the Docklands area.  It will include some of Dublin’s most iconic and historic landmarks taking in the GPO, the Custom’s House, the Convention Centre and Samuel Beckett Bridge.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Naoise Ó Muirí said, “One of my priorities as Lord Mayor of Dublin has been to encourage Dubliners to get active and particularly to take up running in some of Dublin’s great road races.  The Samsung Run Dublin @ Night 10k is a great opportunity to race through the historic streets of Dublin.  I have heard great reports of last year’s run and I can’t wait to join the 10,000 runners tackling this race with a difference on 28th April.  I commend Dublin City Council, Samsung Ireland and the other statutory agencies for this initiative and look forward to seeing you all on the start line.”

Gary Twohig, General Manager, Samsung IT & Mobile Ireland, said “The Samsung Run Dublin @ Night 10K is back with a bang this year; it will be bigger and brighter than our inaugural event last year. 10,000 runners are expected to take to the streets to get involved in what is becoming a must-do running event. The majority of this course is flat so we’re expecting great times from the elite athletes who joined us last year. It’s a great opportunity to experience Dublin in a very special way and I would encourage runners to register early to ensure their place on the night. We are very appreciative of the high level of support from Dublin City Council and the other statutory agencies in the city to ensure that we have a safe and enjoyable event on the night “.
