Kilkenny...Stook 10 mile - Sun 17th Nov 2013

The Stook 10-mile Run takes place in Dungarvan, County Kilkenny, on Sunday November 17th.

This is the 2nd year of the event which features a 10-mile road race and a 5k dash. Organised by Gowran AC it attracted over 500 runners in 2012.

Stook is a unique end of year blow out that combines a competitive club standard race with a fun challenge for runners of all abilities.

So what makes it different? How about the dedicated Tour de France style cheering zone, the Stook Flying Mile - a chip timed downhill mile that offers every runner a chance of an “official” mile PB. And everyone walks away with a Stook 2013 cowbell. There will be a bag drop and changing and toilet facilities at the start and finish.

According to race director, Simon O’Dwyer, “our aim with Stook is to grow slow and grow strong. We don’t want to be the biggest race in Ireland; we want to be the best. This year we are building on the great feedback we got last year– we know what we got right – friendly and welcoming atmosphere, unique cowbells, accurate course, fast results and an delicious spread in the parish hall last year and thanks to sponsors such as Amphibian King and Optimum Nutrition we were able to have some fun with spot prizes and giveaways. "

There are prizes for the first 3 men and women home, as well as cash category prizes for winners from 35 – 65. There is also a Liam Kealy Perpetual Club team prize for the first two men and women home on aggregate scores.

Online Entry for the 10 mile is €20 and the 5k is €10. There is a strict limit on the number of entries available.
