Jesse Owens (September 12, 1913 – March 31, 1980) was one of the most famous athetes of the 20th century having won four Gold medals at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin...one each in the 100 metres, the 200 metres, the long jump, and as part of the 4x100 meter relay team. This was of course at a time when Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party were on the rise in Germany.
